Teach chess in schools as a chess coach/instructor. Atlanta based Championship Chess has a complete turn-key program to teach chess to children using our unique curriculum and methods. This is an excellent opportunity for retirees, former teachers, homeschooling parents, or college students to earn excellent pay with opportunities for advancement. We are looking for coaches throughout the Atlanta metro area – especially in Gwinnett, N. Dekalb, N. Fulton, Cobb and Forsyth Counties. You should have some chess skills but do not have to be a tournament player. Teaching skills are a plus because you will be working mostly with students in grades 5 and below. It is feasible to work with us as a coach in areas that are not in the metro Atlanta area, as well.
You will be required to put in about 20 hours of non-paid training learning to use our chess materials as well as possibly visiting local chess clubs and tournaments. After you are hired, we will continue to work with you and support you in the classroom, on the phone and online. Pay starts at $25.00 per class, after training is completed. Most classes start between 2:30 and 4:00 PM Monday – Friday and last for an hour. Some classes may be available in the morning as well. New coaches usually teach a class per day; 1-3 days per week depending on their level of experience and training. Additional hours are available as your teaching and chess skills improve.
