ASL Virtual Academy (ASLVA), established in 2016 by Mrs. Emily Fermier, brings over 20 years of experience teaching American Sign Language (ASL) at both the high school and college levels. Mrs. Fermier created an online ASL curriculum that emphasizes proper grammar, vocabulary, Deaf culture, and signing skills development. Our courses are tailored to high school students fulfilling their foreign language credit requirements, offering ASL 1, ASL 2, and ASL 3 (a full 3 years of credit). ASLVA also provides dual enrollment options for students seeking both high school and college credit. The courses are mainly asynchronous, online, and self-paced, with opportunities for live interactions with dedicated teachers and native Deaf signers. Our main goal is to ensure that students develop strong conversational skills in ASL. As of April 2025, ASL Virtual Academy is an accredited program through Cognia, ensuring that our curriculum meets high educational standards. With hundreds of satisfied homeschool students nationwide, we’re confident your child will thrive in this enriching learning experience.
