Michelle Shaw is the director of Eastside Academic Studies (a hybrid school) and the Northeast Independent Preparatory Academy (a homeschool accrediting organization). She was also the director of the DeKalb Christian Home Educators support group for 10 years. She is very familiar with the ins and outs of how hybrid homeschools and support groups operate. She received her B.A. in Economics from Harvard College in 1985 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1989. She practiced law for six years before she chose to focus on homeschooling her five children. Three of her children have graduated from college and the last two are currently attending college. Michelle is married to Dr. Alan Shaw, a tenured Professor in Computer Science at Kennesaw State University and the pastor of Christ First Community Church in Stone Mountain. Michelle also serves on the boards of the Hugs & Hope Food Pantry and the DeKalb Christian Home Educators. Her goal is to help make homeschooling a viable option for all families.
